Craps Records

without comments

Like in other games and sports betting, craps also exist in the records. While other entertainment usually tries to reach a record-high by scoring successive or special moves in craps is to avoid a single result: the seven.

The craps records have been broken several times in recent years. Sometimes a difference of a few figures, but enough to overcome the previous best mark.

Currently the best record of craps is that of Patricia DeMauro. This craps player set a new record on 23 May 2009, while enjoying a game at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City. DeMauro got 154 numbers in a row before the appearance of a seven. Achieving this record, however, took longer than many believe. Patricia DeMauro been playing craps for four hours and 18 minutes to impose a new world record of craps.

One of the longest records (in terms of time played) was the Fujitaka Stanley, who had taken 118 issues followed in the space of three hours and six minutes.

Patricia DeMauro mark thus exceeds the previous record of craps Captain of Craps, a player known casinos in Atlantic City. The record had been captain of 147 consecutive numbers. Unlike Fujitaka records and DeMauro, the Captain was obtained in only two hours and 18 minutes, which positions it as one of the most prominent of all time.

The Story of Five Card Stud Poker

without comments

Poker has a long history and confusing. Some argue that originated in Persia, as it closely resembles a game called As Nas and may have been moved to the United States by Persian sailors in New Orleans.

This game is played with 25 cards and with 2 different decks. It was played similarly to modern Five Card Stud with many of the combinations of hands. It seems likely that the name “Poker” descended from the French “poque”, which originally came from German “pochen” that means, “hit”.
The game was played in New Orleans in the late 1820s, with a deck of 20 cards and players bet on the value of their hands. The first known form of poker is played with 20 cards (AKQJ-10) to be distributed evenly among the four players.

There was a draw, and bets were made in a narrow range of combinations: one pair, two pair, three of a kind, and poker. Unlike the classic poker, in which the hand with a royal flush may be linked with another club, the highest hand consists of four aces or four kings and an ace, it is absolutely unbeatable.

Then, the spread of the game seems to have been facilitated by the practice of gambling boats down the Mississippi River. Shortly after this game was extended to what is today, 52 letters and colors were added. The extra cards were introduced primarily to allow greater number of players.

The game was expanded and developed further during the Civil War, with many of the variants of the game you are presented below, including Five Card Stud.

Poker was played initially with a single round of betting, with all five cards face down and without discarding cards, very similar to today’s game of Five Card Stud.

Professional gamblers later added variations and changes in rules in order to increase the profitability of the game. Wildcards and “simulations” have become common occurrences, as well as afford another round of betting.

Many features of modern poker, as some versions of the various hands, originated in earlier forms of the British game Brag or Bragg.

Online Poker Secrets

with one comment

We can question the apparent fact that indeed the card game of poker which is now known as online poker is very popular. For the past years, poker is only seen as a game that only the rich and the famous can play. But this is just a cliché that has turned into a joke after a long time. As a matter of fact, you might not notice it but the appeal of poker was able to go beyond class, racial, and political considerations. Studies and statistics would be the very prime evidences that one out of five Americans has chosen poker as their most favorite game. This fact would even be doubled up in other countries like the United Kingdom where poker seems to be the best game that they have considered playing. Further, the traditional games of poker are still very popular in the majority of places in the United Kingdom.

In addition, with the surge of what we call the most powerful avenue today—internet, we are able to witness a lot of innovations that have proven itself satisfactions to all of us. No wonder, we are able to seer now a lot of online casinos that are popping up everyday which offers the game of poker. We can even possibly say that indeed both poker online and online casino would be together taking the journey together.

The internet piker that we have now can be similar in more ways to the traditional poker that most of us know. But there are some significant and apparent differences that we would later on notice. The very first difference that we might see is the obvious fact that when we play in casinos, we are playing it live while if we play online, we are playing it in the internet. In addition, you would also probably notice the difference of the mode of payment that they offer.

While you are playing poker over the internet, you would probably be having a lot of initiative and creativity. The very simple reason for this is the fact that you do not really see your opponent face to face. Unlike in the scenario wherein you are playing in the traditional casino, you are able to see your opponent but in the poker online, you cannot really be able to see the signs or “tells” of your opponent.

For you to be able to spot the “tells” in your online opponent, all you need to remember are two points.

First would be the “tells” and time patterns. Despite the fact that most people would consider these as unreliable but with the use of the time patterns, if the player is quick, you are sure that he is bluffing. On the other hand, if the player would be slow than the usual, then probably you must think of him as a real hand.

Second are the betting patterns. This might be more reliable than the previous one since indeed is giving you with actual facts of the game.

Learning to Win Poker

without comments

Among the types of Poker, Texas HoldEm Poker is by far the most popular. It is often seen played on TV or in casinos. While chess or checkers relies on the recognition of patterns, winning in poker is through chances. There is no precise solution as to how you can win in a series of succeeding rounds.

John von Neuman gave us the Mathematical game theory using the poker asthe model. However, this was only limited to 2 players. This is where linear programming solutions came in, which increased the capability of defeating even the smartest world-class players.

Knowing the game theory or the linear programming solutions for the poker game is not that important unless you are aiming to be like a computer. By the time you are playing, you will not have the luxury of time to be applying the such theory. For novice players, the advice professional players will give you is that you have to know when to bet, when go all-in, when to raise, when to call, or when to fold. But while learning this, get back to your old high school notes and review the concept of probability. Knowing when to get a good hand will guide you to your victory.

When to Play Aggresively

without comments

Your opponent has a hand of Ace and King while you have a Jack of Hearts and 10 of Hearts. Through the computation of odds, your opponent has a bigger chance of winning at 40 percent. But when the flop gives you a flop draw of 9 and 8 of hearts, going all the way by the river will give you 50 percent chance of winning.

Most of the time, when you have a good hand, it is expected from you to bet. If you do not have good hands, fold. When you play aggresively, betting and raising, you have two ways to win witht the big draw. You can make your opponent to fold at his will or you can make the best hand.

Playing aggresively can work to your advantage most of the time if it is used wisely. Therefore, pay close attention to what is happening. Observe your opponent carefully or you will get rid yourself the chance to increase your skills. The ability to read your opponent will give you the hint to either go all-in and take home the pot. Do not get so focused only on your hands. Playing aggresively with wise betting techniques is showing that you are aware your opponents are observing you as well.

How to Deal with Losing

without comments

Losing can help you in some ways. If you are thinking about the money that is all gone, that is not the help we are talking about. It is being prepared the next time you play that is offered by losing.

Losing is never new to anyone. However, some just tend to lose their head that they will keep on losing. And it can really get into your nerves unless you deal with it right away. If you had $1000 bankroll but only had $50 left, then maybe it is time to go, or try to push your luck and lose what is remaining. You had Kings, three of a kind, but by the river, you lost to a full house. And its a part of the game.

Your money went all to the pot and you did not get any. Money is gone, but do not lose your sense of control. Be patient and think positive. You should know better that you need to focus and pay attention to the game. If there is no other way than to stop playing, then you need to get out of the table. Do something else to divert your attention or you can contemplate about what happened and learn from it. If you like playing poker, then have fun or do not play at all.

Computing the Odds for Novice Players

without comments

Identifying the percentages and odds of your hand is your first step in winning poker. If way back in high school, mathematical problems bored or scared you, playing poker is one way of improving how you look at math. Let us examine some of the odds and percentages that most of the time is used in playing poker:
Ace and King – about 40 percent of the time, you can have either a pair or a much better hand.
Flush Draw – if you flop this, a flush by the river is possible about 35 percent of the time.
Straight Draw – a straight by the river is possible at 30 percent.
Pocket Pair – about 11 percent of the time, you can have a flop a set.

Knowing the basics of computing your odds of winning will give lead you to make correct decisions on betting against your opponents. This is called wise betting. However, never get too comfortable because there is no such thing as 100 percent in the game of poker. Being consistently observant, careful, and thinking is a good start for a novice player to avoid common mistakes as you advanced into a higher level of playing.
