The Rewards of a Radical Faith

"An Unquestionable Character"

Luke 22:31-34, 54-62 John 21:15-19

The story of Peter's denial of Jesus is a snapshot in the moving picture that was Peter's maturing process. Christ was accomplishing in Peter what He wants to accomplish in all of us: instilling a bedrock belief in Who He is, and a dependence on Him instead of ourselves. Peter's story has lessons we can learn and apply in our own discovery and development of a radical faith.

Radical faith overcomes ___________ ,

because strong character takes strong stands.

How very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world. Ephes. 1:19-20 (TEV)

Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power. Ephes. 6:10 (TEV)

We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul-not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, Col. 1:11 (Msg)

Radical faith overcomes ______________ ,

because strong character assumes responsibility.

For God sometimes uses sorrow in our lives to help us turn away from sin and seek eternal life. 2 Cor. 7:10 (Living)

Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Acts 2:38 (NLT)

If you don't confess your sins, you will be a failure. But God will be merciful if you confess your sins and give them up. Proverbs 28:13 (CEV)

In Him [Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, Ephes. 1:7 (NASB)

Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him. John 3:18 (Msg)

And that means that anyone who tries to live by his own effort, independent of God, is doomed to failure. Scripture backs this up: "Utterly cursed is every person who fails to carry out every detail written in the Book of the law." Galatians 3:10 (Msg)

I want you to know, my very dear friends, that it is on account of this resurrected Jesus that the forgiveness of your sins can be promised. Acts 13:38 (Msg)

Jesus said, "If you were really blind, you would be blameless, but since you claim to see everything so well, you're accountable for every fault and failure. John 9:41 (Msg)

Don't try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn't know about it. For God knows all hearts, and he sees you Proverbs 24:12 (NLT)

Each person must be responsible for himself. Galatians 6:5 (NCV)

Radical faith overcomes __________________ ,

because strong character is visible.

Then Jesus arrived from Nazareth, anointed by God with the Holy Spirit, ready for action. He went through the country helping people and healing everyone who was beaten down by the Devil. He was able to do all this because God was with him. Acts 10:38 (Msg)

God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That's why he sent Christ to make us what we are. Ephes. 2:10 (CEV)

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 1 Tim. 6:18 (NIV)

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17 (NIV)

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:13 (NIV)

These things I have told you are all true. I want you to insist on them so that everyone who trusts in God will be careful to do good deeds all the time. These things are good and beneficial for everyone. Titus 3:8 (NLT)
